One of my greatest priveleges for me as an art dealer was the opportunity to respresent one of America's greatest figurative sculptors of the late 20th century. His works are in collections throughout the world and grace the the Halls of the U.S. Congress, the National Mall, and the National Cathedral. Even the Royal Family of England are patrons of this man's works. What a joy it was to be in the presence of his works.
I met this artist a few years ago in Texas, and what struck me about his work was the fluidity of his subjects and how they seemed to take flight in one's presence. There is romantic presence as many of the models who are often engaged in some form of dance or athletic movement. Not one for any particular convention in sculpting, each piece seems somewhat different from the others, even his patinas reflect his changing feelings about the subject. A wonderful artist.
The final, unfinished work by this true American Master.
